Aberforth Dumbledore is Albus Dumbledore's younger brother. He is a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
When Alastor Moody showed Harry Potter his old photograph of the Order, the Auror called Aberforth a "strange bloke", saying that he'd only met the man once (OP9).
J. K. Rowling revealed that he was the Hog's Head barkeep. Harry ran into him in the pub, but didn't recognise him; he did, however, notice a certain familiarity in the blue eyes behind the old man's glasses (OP16).
His role in the Order is unknown. It is certain that he passed on some information to Albus, such as that about the Death Eaters who accompanied Lord Voldemort to Hogsmeade when the Dark Lord requested a post in the Hogwarts staff for the second time (HBP20). Aberforth was also the person responsible for kicking Severus Snape out of the pub when the wizard was eavesdropping on Sybill Trelawney's Prophecy before she had finished revealed its full contents (HBP25).
Albus' only direct mention of him describes Aberforth as a possibly illiterate man who hadn't let public scorn faze him after facing trial for casting "inappropriate charms on a goat" (GF24).
Harry saw Aberforth with Mundungus Fletcher in Hogsmeade, after Dung nicked a few of Sirius Black's heirlooms from number twelve, Grimmauld Place (HBP12). One of the artifacts bought by Aberforth was one of the Two-Way Mirrors (BLC), the other of which Sirius had given to Harry to enable the boy to communicate with his godfather (OP24).
Aberforth rescued Harry, Ron, and Hermione from Death Eaters during their seventh year, letting them hide in his bar and claiming that the stag Patronus the Death Eaters had glimpsed was actually his, a goat. A secret passage led from the Hog's Head into Hogwarts, and Aberforth allowed members of the Order of the Phoenix, as well as various students, to use it (DH29).
