From UnknowableWiki
The Harry Potter series is a group of seven books written by J.K. Rowling, which have all been published. They follow the titular character, Harry, through his school years at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Each book represents approximately a year of Harry's life, with minor variance: in the beginning of the first, he is a one-year-old baby; Harry is seventeen at the end of the last book, and the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is set nineteen years after that.
The seven books are:
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ('Sorcerer's Stone' in the American version)
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Additionally, Rowling has written two short books with background information for Comic Relief, a charity organisation:
After the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Rowling also made seven hand-written copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. One of the copies was auctioned for charity and bought by Amazon.com [1]. Print editions of The Tales of Beedle the Bard will be available for sale on December 4, 2008.
