  • Norberta the Norwegian Ridgeback hatches in Hagrid's hut. The Trio and Draco Malfoy are witnesses. She grows extremely fast and has a vicious temper.

  • The Trio convinces Hagrid to send Norberta away and Ron writes to Charlie who sends his friends to pick her up one Saturday night. Malfoy learns of the plan and tries to catch them afte curfew, but he is caught by Professor McGonagall and loses 20 [points]] for Slytherin. Neville, Harry and Hermione are caught by Filch 150 points for Gryffindor (PS14, PS15).

  • Draco, Harry, Neville and Hermione serve their detention with Hagrid and Fang in the Forbidden Forest. Harry, Malfoy and Fang see a hooded figure—Professor Quirrell—drink blood from a slain unicorn. The figure attacks Harry, who is saved by Firenze (PS15).
