At some point in 1990:

• The Twigger 90 broomstick is introduced by the Flyte and Barker company (QA9).
• Pollux Black (Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa, Sirius and Regulus' grandfather) dies at the age of 78 (BFT).
• Hagrid buys Fluffy from a Greek stranger he meets in a pub (PS11).
• Cornelius Fudge replaces Millicent Bagnold as Minister for Magic (W3).

At some point prior to July 31:

• Marge visits the Dursleys, bringing Ripper with her. The dog chases Harry Potter up a tree; Marge does not call him back before midnight (PA2, OP24)^[1].

April 15:

• Real World: Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, is born.

June

• Slytherin wins the House Cup (PS13).

June 23:

• Dudley turns ten. He receives thirty-eight presents. His parents take him out to celebrate while Harry Potter spends the day with Arabella Figg (PS2).

During the summer holidays:

• Quirrell travels to Albania in order to study Defence Against the Dark Arts.

July 31:

• Harry Potter turns ten years old. Vernon and Petunia give him a coat hanger and old socks as a birthday present (PS3).

September 1:

• Charity Burbage becomes Muggle Studies teacher, replacing Quirrell.
• Katie Bell starts her first year at Hogwarts and is Sorted into Gryffindor.

Early September:

• Fred and George Weasley, possibly also Alicia Spinnet and Angelina Johnson, join the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Charlie Weasley presumably resigns his Quidditch Captain post, which is given to Oliver Wood (PS9).
