Gondoline Oliphant, a Magizoologist specializing in trolls, is born (FW).

Dilys Derwent becomes a St. Mungo's Healer (OP22).

1729

Elladora Ketteridge, discoverer of the use of Gillyweed, dies (OP22).

1741

Dilys Derwent resigns her post as a St. Mungo's Healer and becomes headmistress of Hogwarts. She is one of the most renowned heads of the school (OP22).

Glover Hipworth, inventor of the Pepperup Potion, is born (FW).

Beaumont Majorbanks, famous herbologist, is born (FW).

As a reaction to the Statute of Secrecy amendments of 1692, the Department of Magical Games and Sports is founded (QA5, QA6).

Clause 73 is added to the Statute of Secrecy. It makes the hiding of all magical creatures in their territory mandatory for all wizarding governments (FBi).

Artemisia Lufkin, the first female Minister for Magic, is born (FW).

Glanmore Peakes, slayer of the Sea Serpent of Cromer, dies (FW).

Dilys Derwent, one of the most renowned heads of the school, is replaced as headmistress of Hogwarts (OP22).

Lord Stoddard Withers, a breeder of winged horses and inventor of a cross of Quidditch and polo, is born (FW).

Grogan Stump, a very popular Minister for Magic, is born (FW).

Flavius Belby is attacked by a Lethifold while vacationing at Papua New Guinea. He survives by casting a Patronus Charm, thus discovering the only way to repel the creature (FBAZ). To this day, Belby is the only known survivor of a Lethifold attack (FW).

Beatrix Bloxam, author of the Toadstool Tales, a series of children's books, is born (FW).

The first recorded sighting of an Acromantula occurs (presumably on the island of Borneo, the creature's native habitat) (FBAZ).

A Ukrainian Ironbelly carries an empty ship away from the Black Sea. The incident causes Ukrainian wizarding authorities to keep a close watch on their native dragon population in the future (FBAZ).
