'Dangerous' Dai Llewellyn Ward
From UnknowableWiki
The 'Dangerous' Dai Llewellyn Ward, named after the famous Quidditch player Dai Llewellyn, is the St. Mungo's ward where victims of serious bites are treated. It is small and dingy, with only one narrow window; its main source of illumination are the crystal bubbles found all around the hospital. There is a picture of Urquhart Rackharrow on the panelled-oak wall. In 1995, the Healer-in-charge is Hippocrates Smethwyck; Augustus Pye is the Trainee Healer.
Arthur Weasley is sent to this ward after Nagini bites him in December 1995 (OP21). When Molly, the children, Harry, Tonks and Mad-Eye Moody go visit him, he tells them about the two other patients who share the room with him: a woman who does not wish to reveal what bit her (presumably something illegal) and a man who was recently bitten by a werewolf.
Harry and the children eavesdrop on the adults talking inside the chamber with the help of Extendable Ears (OP22); the conversation leads Harry to believe that he is the 'weapon' Voldemort is trying to obtain.
At Christmas, 1995, Moody, Remus and Molly accompany the Weasley children, Harry and Hermione to visit Arthur once more, bringing presents. Remus talks to the werewolf in the 'Dangerous' Dai Llewelly Ward. Arthur confesses that Pye, who is very interested in Muggle medicine, has agreed to experiment with stitches on the wound. Molly is incensed, and the other visitors hurry out of the ward to avoid hearing her angry sermon.
Harry, Ron, Ginny and Hermione end up in the Spell Damage department, where they run into Lockhart; Miriam Strout leads them to the Janus Thickey Ward. Inside, the children meet Neville, Augusta, Frank and Alice Longbottom (OP23).
